With the release of Optim 1.2.1 by Theia Interactive, I am able to share some of the work I contributed to the project.

I had the opportunity to design and create a player avatar, several 3D interactable props, and an environment for our VR-multiplayer template.  The images shown reflect renders of the assets I created as well as some screenshots of VR-multiplayer sessions using Optim within Unreal Engine,
both in the environment I created as well as a previous arch-vis project by Theia Interactive.

Initial concept sketches establishing style and potential for variation in shape and color
In designing the style of the avatar, I started with the head. I knew it had to be sleek and simple to fit in with our customer base of AEC and Enterprise clients, but also had to be not specific to any race or gender, and a create-your-own avatar configurator was not an option for us at the time.
I liked the idea of a "screen face" to keep the system adaptable. The screen could be a cute drawing of a smiley face, but eventually could be the user's image, or even a live webcam feed.
